Syllabus: Course goals and objectives, expectations, grading scale, assignment instructions and other key information. Read this!

Notice: Please note that this is a 6000 level graduate course. There are no undergraduate or 5000 level sections of this course. I will use exactly the same criteria and standards to judge every student's performance. To put this in a very straightforward manner, I will NOT lower the criteria or standards of performance for students of lower class standing. I give the grading criteria for each component in the Topical Analysis and Semester Project in the syllabus. The grading criteria for your class presentations are available in the Discussion Leader Evaluation form posted at the web site. You should anticipate spending approximately 2-3 hours out of class for each hour we spend in class. Read the syllabus carefully. It provides considerable detail about my expectations with regard to your performance, for example, use of the research literature.
